Nikki Haley to resign

Another top-level Trump staffer calls it quits.

We'll see her again. The party will likely nominate her for VP next election, as she's shown loyalty, but left before her reputation got stained.

I had absolutely no idea both her parents were native born from India and practicing Sikhs.

Sikhs are insanely honorable and trustworthy.

If they assassinate you (which happened once and every one keeps bringing that up) it's really because you really are a bad person.

I'll vote for her when she runs as VP or Prez or whatever. I love Sikhs.

Her siblings are all accomplished as well in life. No slackers.

Her parents look completely ethnic.

Nikki I totally thought was a white girl.

It's tempting to say this is due to "Aryan" genes, but her parents are clearly not white.

It seems like your environment and probably diet has a shitload to do with your appearance.

Your parents can look like they came out of the jungle due to their vegetarianism or whatever, and you eat McDonalds and look like a centerfold model.

The Mail is reporting:

UN ambassador Nikki Haley, who stunned Washington with her surprise announcement she is resigning her post, was facing an ethics complaint over her acceptance of private travel between South Carolina and Washington, D.C.

Haley had disclosed the flights on her government form for 2017. But the issue of improper private jet uses has dogged multiple administration officials, and led to the resignation of Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price.

That Senator who was going to fly back to vote on Kavanaugh from Wyoming on the day of his daughter's wedding was going to do so on a friend's private plane.

I can see how you might end up owing favors to someone offering this. On the other hand it depends on the context. Are commercial flights available at all? For Wyoming no commercial flight would have worked, but that was a rare case.

If you take a private flight and reimburse them you might think that would be OK, but people complain about that too if it turns out you know the owner of the plane.

So the article points out that there's a personal friendship exception. A personal friend can give you gifts. But his business can not pay for it, and he has to be a personal friend, not a political or business friend. The three businessmen who gave flights might be personal friends and have paid for it themselves, that hasn't been established.

However, she put the value of the flights at the cost of a first class ticket and NOT the value of a private chartered flight, which would be 10x more.

So that could be a problem. If it is a problem though, and it should instead be the actual commercial value of the specific flight, then if it turns out that the plane's owner just happened to be flying to DC that day anyway and Haley hitched a ride, then the commercial value would fairly be $0.

The same way if Delta just happens to be flying to Florida, I can hop on for $0. /s

Well all or most airlines do let employees and their family members fly for free if there is a space available (without checked luggage), and that's not considered a gift or anything that needs to be declared. The idea is since at departure time the seat was not sold, it's genuinely a free seat.

I have a cousin who is a pilot and his children, wife and parents all can take any flight on that airline without having to pay for it as long as they are OK with a decent chance that they get to the airport and are told "no space available". They use it a lot actually, and it even covers connections through other airlines.

There was a guy who traveled all over the world for free by masquerading as an off-duty cabin crew.

He was only caught because a few people reported him to the airline for being so helpful and polite.
