Y'all are a bunch of wankers!

Does Google listen to conversations?

Several times now, people livestreaming on YouTube have observed that ads on websites have appeared to be targeted to the conversation in real time.

I haven't seen this, but I have seen ads pop up that were relevant to something a coworker searched for when they were sitting right next to me.  I expect there's a geofence aspect of their ad serving to account for people in groups looking stuff up.

If it's at work, you're probably showing up as the same IP address.

Some workplaces anonymize all outgoing Internet traffic as a security measure.  I.e., everyone is always forced to be in private browsing mode.

'Vee' (a Romanian) was live-streaming yesterday with a woman in the UK.

They started talking about life in Romania and she later commented that adverts for holidays in Romania had started appearing on her screen.

Maybe whatever app they were using to communicate (hangouts?) had seen his IP address and decided to be 'helpful'?

We were on cell, not WiFi. So not a shared company IP, but possibly the same cell tower.
