7541 pieces to build the "Ultimate" Millennium Falcon.

Ouch.

Half that is the licensing fee to Disney. That's why the Star Wars sets cost so much more per brick.

Oddly though, this set was so popular that it's continually been out of stock and Lego's had a hard time keeping up with demand.

It's a nice set, with parts of the interior completed and to scale.

You can buy a clone of the set in Beijing for around $110, or if you want it shipped to the US (as loose bricks in a box, which is quasi-legal) you can get that for around $200.

Chinese copies of Lego used to have lower quality control and poorer tolerances leading to 'looser' builds, but this is probably no longer true.

I think I brought up the Chinese sets once before.

I have both the Lego version and the clone of this set. They are very close. The blue engine tubes are not as nice on the clone, they come in two parts and you have to cut them to fit right, it just doesn't look as good. As far as fitting together it's about the same as Lego almost all the time, but  you can run into spots with tricky technique sections. You can make it work though. The minifigures have slightly less good alignment on the printing and the colors are slightly different. There also can be problems with getting the helmets to fit right.

The Chinese also sell a very nice Technics stand for this Falcon. There are also some sellers that are putting together the "hangar" kit which is an absolutely massive death star hangar with 8000+ pieces to put your Falcon on. That set runs around $800 though since it's a small run hand collected set.

There's also now a lot of original sets from China, quite a few which are extremely cool, like highly detailed models of classical Chinese buildings from the middle ages.
