Y'all are a bunch of wankers!

Great article on IQ and related issues.

Wilson himself has an IQ of 123. Richard Feynman — everybody’s favorite theoretical physicist — scored 125. We think Darwin had an IQ of about 130. (Keep in mind that these scores are still pretty high… Anything above 120 puts you above the 90th percentile.)

In contrast, Wilson says people who score too high (say, in the range of 140–180) may end up “working as auditors and tax consultants.”

IQ is not dick length, where you only got one variable to measure.

Current tests involve a lot of shit of dubious relevance like the ability to rotate 3d figures or do character permutations in one's mind. Some guys may become exceptional at these tests, like atlets do with training and others are just talented.

What matters however is the end result. Who gets ahead. Those are the traits you wanna measure, so if an 120er fares way better than an 180er, then you're measuring the wrong things.

>Current tests involve a lot of shit of dubious relevance

Says the guy who performs badly on the tests.

And remains convinced that if he practices enough he can spoof them...

...yet strangely has failed to do so.

I pointed out here before that the lowest average national IQ in the world is 59, Equatorial Guinea. That is actually an average of RETARDED.

Equatorial Guinea also has the highest GDP per capita in Africa and its GDP per capita is HIGHER THAN ISRAEL.

Also they have the highest literacy rate in all of sub-saharan Africa, and their literacy rate is HIGHER THAN THE US.

So what the fuck does IQ mean? It's intended as a pattern matching test that was originally designed to select officers for the military and now shows you well you'll do in college or something like that. And it sure doesn't seem to work too well when you try to correlate it to anything useful. Shouldn't Nobel prize winners in physics and chemistry have very high IQs? Well they don't. Feynman doesn't even hit the "gifted" level.

It's a test that gives higher scores to jews, whites and chinese than to blacks and hispanics and pacific islanders. So it's useful for that. You can screen for IQ and then eliminate minorities for jobs while being "impartial" and "scientific".

I love the story of Sufiah Yusof. 200 IQ math genius AND top rated tennis player. Entered Oxford at age 13 and graduated with honors. But not before running away in her third year and getting a job as a waitress. Then upon graduation from Oxford, she started her own business working as a prostitute. Not a high class one, but not a streetwalker. She'd meet clients at her apartment and had reasonable rates and fucked working men and regular guys because she liked the work and was so fucking tired of doing mathematics.

A woman tennis player rated 8th in the UK is good, but not that good, women's tennis in the UK is rated 16th worldwide. Being 8th in the UK is not 'top rated' worldwide.

8th highest ranked player in your nation is a top rating. Among the top 10 in the nation is a top rating for sure.

I NEVER SAID SHE WAS TOP RANKED IN THE WORLD AND YOU KNOW IT YOU PEDOPHILE.

IQ tests are certainly biased towards residents of industrialized nations. If you aren't, you may never have seen a numbered cube and couldn't care in the slightest how it looks if you unwrap the faces.

Regarding OP - science and IQ

The issue might be that if you're REALLY brilliant, you have better career options than to be a scientist.  You might realize that 4 years undergrad + 5-6 years for a PhD + 3-6 years postdocs and then, if you're LUCKY, you get a tenure-track job?  No thanks.

vs working in the private sector, get a job at a top company, save your salary, retire in 10-15 years.

So the "ideal" scientist is someone smart enough to do good research, but not smart enough to realize that the science career track sucks compared to alternatives.

"200 IQ = unfounded"

Initially IQ was an age ratio. If you were 10 years old and were able to achieve the level of performance as an average 20 year old, your IQ was 20/10*100=200. This was impractical for evaluating adults though since people don't gain greatly in ability after age 20, so this scale was mapped to one based on standard deviations where either 15 pts or 17 pts was one standard deviation, depending on the scale.

You can start a Masters degree in Mathematics at Oxford if you are very smart, IQ at least 117 (1 std above), and have a Bachelors already, so you are age 22 at least.

She started her masters degree at age 12. So that's IQ 22/12=183 nominally. But that 22 yr old was IQ 117. So hers is 183+17=200.

She was accepted to the program at age 12 and started at 13. Likewise with someone getting their bachelors from age 18-22,  being accepted by Oxford at age 22, and starting at 23.

However every time he exaggerates his IQ must be 10 points less.

Therefore his IQ is actually -80.

You guys are morons who don't know anything about IQ tests or their history.

Someone accepted to the mathematics Masters program at Oxford at age 12 is going to have an IQ on average of 200 for very specific and defensible reasons. Someone subsequently completing that program is going to have an even higher IQ. Now there's a range involved in the estimation. It's 183 to 217.

If you want to argue her IQ, as IQ is defined, is outside this range, make your case.

It makes sense. It's UK so these are imperial IQ units, not metric IQ like the rest of the world uses.

In these case it's feet of IQ. Converting 200 feet of IQ to meters gives approximately 60 metric IQ points. Close to Equatorial Guinea, no wonder the chick was both intellectually gifted and phisycally strong.
