Will Roy Moore reach the US Senate?

> A former colleague of U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore said Saturday that it was “common knowledge” that the Alabama Republican dated high school girls while he was the assistant district attorney for Etowah County.

Moore worked in the district attorney’s office from 1977 until 1982 and his coworkers found it strange that he regularly dated high school girls, Teresa Jones, who held the deputy district attorney post in Etowah County from 1982 until 1985, told CNN.

No one confronted him about the behavior — which included preying on young girls at high school gatherings — at the time, she said.

“It was common knowledge that Roy Moore dated high school girls, everyone we knew thought it was weird,” Jones told CNN.

I'm hearing a lot of bad stuff about this Roy Moore guy. Is the Democrat running against him any good or is he just "not Roy Moore"?

What are you hoping for? It seems unlikely he's a child molester and equally unlikely that he opposes the global tsunami of US government funded worldwide violence.

> Alabama Marion County GOP chair David Hall also downplayed the allegations.

"It was 40 years ago," Hall told Daniel Dale, a reporter for the Toronto Star. "I really don't see the relevance of it. He was 32. She was supposedly 14. She's not saying that anything happened other than they kissed." He added, "The other women that they’re using to corroborate: number one, one was 19, one was 17, one was 16. There’s nothing wrong with a 30-year-old single male asking a 19-year-old, a 17-year-old, or a 16-year-old out on a date."

There’s nothing wrong with a 30-year-old asking a 16-year-old out on a date?

Dude.  Trump, who said ON TAPE "you can grab them by the pussy", got elected.

Of course Roy Moore can reach the Senate.

But WILL he?  Hard to know.

Is being a KKK leader a crime? Should it be?

"As a U.S. attorney in 2002, Jones was the lead prosecutor in the case against two of the men responsible for bombing the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama, on Sept. 15, 1963. The heinous act killed four African-American girls during church services. The Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. called it “one of the most vicious and tragic crimes ever perpetrated against humanity.”

In many states the answer is "Yes there is", but not in Alabama where the age of consent happens to be 16 years of age.

A lot of people seem to have difficulty comprehending what a legal age of consent is.

Tons of people throughout history have had relationships and gotten married even in their teens. Often with older people since then the partner tends to be professionally established.

An adult sexually kissing and groping a 14 yr old in Alabama, even with consent, is probably a crime of sexual assault. But it's not rape. When it's a person with power over the other, it's problematic, and in same states illegal.

I continue to be super pissed off at all the fuckers for whom this is their issue with Moore rather than all the other crap about him. The only reason they are bringing this up is because they are hoping his dumb fundie followers will abandon their candidate in disgust. Not realizing that Alabama voters would consider it normal if this guy impregnated a 13 yr old first cousin when he was 40, as long as it was a heterosexual encounter.

If you want to derail this guy you need to find out that he is gay.

But he's not.

He'll win and the people who went against Luther Strange, ensuring Moore, will be the ones to blame for Moore. And it's the Trump haters that went against Strange. So the Trump haters will be to blame for Moore.

It's the exact same deal with Trump.

Republicans did NOT select Trump. They didn't want him. HILLARY CLINTON AND JOHN PODESTA SELECTED TRUMP. This is a proven fact from the emails. Bill Clinton even got in on it, phoning Trump to encourage him to run.

Democrats keep doing this. Their candidates are absolute garbage so their strategy is to force crazy problematic candidates onto the Republicans by funding them directly and engaging in dirty tricks with the primaries, such as abusing the open primaries in states by cross-voting (organized voting for a specific really bad opposition candidate to ensure his win).

Result? Republicans are not going to vote for garbage Dem candidates no matter how bad they make the Republicans with  pied piper candidates. All that's going to happen is things are going to go to shit overall, and it's all the Dems fault.

Interesting development. Turns out that the Washington Post journalist who "broke" this story was going around in Alabama offering women there $1000 if they would agree to falsely accuse Moore of sexual harassment or rape.

Clearly some took the offer. One who did not RECORDED the journalist making the offer.
