File paths are different on Windows than Linux. That's about all I can think of.

When I was doing PHP, I almost always had Windows as my dev box and Linux as the production box.  There never were any issues.

You do need to make sure the php.ini settings and PHP version match, but otherwise it works.

LAMP has .htaccess

Using this file carries a performance penalty but some situations are worth the cost eg you're running a web hosting service and your clients use .htaccess in their respective web accounts.

As a developer, the file can be handy for experimenting with settings before editing php.ini (and restarting the web server).

In WAMP you can configure the name of the .htaccess file but I've never bothered.
