Where does the cold/flu viruses come from?

https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/11/081120073115.htm

So we know that it crossed species from birds to humans.  My question is do each of us carry the cold/flu virus in our throats all the time?

Virus can only survive minutes/hours at most outside the human body. So we must have a host that carries the virus all year round.

Ducks.

When they migrate in the fall, they poop the whole way, spreading flu everywhere.

Wow, that knowledge escapes me for some reason. I know ducks and Canadian geese migrate south every winter.

Flu comes from various animals: birds, bats, humans, swine, horses and others.
