New Freelancer/Small Business Term

A "Come to Satan" Meeting

A "Come to Jesus" meeting gone horribly wrong for all parties concerned.

Everything gets discussed openly. But completely wrong conclusions are reached, bridges are burnt, client is pissed, contractor is ready to become a state terrorism sponsor.

Had one of these recently. Don't ask. Even though you will.

Huh. And I thought all meetings went that way.

^ That actually makes me feel a bit better.

Yeah, confrontation is always risky. It's a crucible. You either burn out the bullshit or you burn away a crust that reveals even more bullshit.

Some people REALLY do not like it if you speak freely and say the truth about stuff, when stuff is a shitshow. And if it wasn't a shitshow there wouldn't have been a meeting.

I can't have these meetings. People get mad, I talk back, then they get really mad.

Yes. As was indeed the case when we jointly summoned the dark lord of the air.

Bwahaha, I shall remember this term as I expect to be in more than a few such meetings over the next year and there's a whiff of brimstone all around our senior management.

The real test will be whether I can STFU and stay on the right side of the fan (gonna be more like a fricking untethered turbojet in the room frankly).
