Y'all are a bunch of wankers!

Time for Vox Populi?

435 US Representatives, for 321 million people?  Why not skip the middleman - who isn't really doing much for you anyway?

It's to prevent the "Tyranny of the Majority".

If we had direct representation, a few Fox-News Commentators could get the whole country to run off the lemming cliff, just by getting 51 percent of the POPULATION to abuse the 49%.

That Trump was able to game the system THIS time, doesn't mean putting in place a crappier systems is the answer.

In other words, the "middle-man" IS doing something for you.

Otherwise, the entire country could be just like Kansas.  Instead of only Kansas being that way.

Maybe we need to make the US is like a corporation and each citizen is a shareholder of 1 share. We can start having CEO and board of directors.

We need to have company annual voting and we can vote people and so on.

What say you, Hubble?

We also start to get dividends. AK residents get oil dividend and that isn't fair to the rest of us who fund their social and defense.

> "Tyranny of the Majority"

That is only a problem for the people not paying attention.

The issue with "Tyranny of the Majority" is to prevent people from changing their mind 20 minutes later.  Preventing short-attention-span issues from dominating.

A Corporations only goal is Profit.

A Government agency's goal is to serve the public.

Thus any time a Corporation (unless it's a non-profit) is proposed to serve the public good, Government regulation is needed to prevent fraud, monopolies, trusts, and abuse of power.

As the "classic fascist" theory has demonstrated, putting corporate leaders in charge of Government is GREAT for the corporations, for a while, but horrible for the people.  Corporate rule results in draconian booms and busts based on fraud -- because they can.

So no, applying Corporate theory to Federal Governance doesn't work.

"Problem for people not paying attention"?  What kind of talk is that?

xample9, YOU are a minority of one.  We, individually, are EACH a minority of one.

If Fox-News gathers a large group, say the Tea-Party, they're quite capable of, say, trying to throw Muslims out of the country.  Trying to disenfranchise blacks.

If you can't gather an equivalent group to counter them -- and from recent American experience it appears you haven't -- then it's doesn't matter a fuck if you're "paying attention" or not, they can STILL run rough-shod over your rights.

THAT is the "tyranny of the majority", and it's only the Constitution and people willing to support it that stands in their way.

Hubble's all worried about tyranny of the majority, but still whines about the popular vote. Why is it that hypocrites can never smell their own shit?

Rule #1 in any non-totalitarian society:
The majority rules, provided it's the right majority.
