How the funk do you find directly the companies who recruit in UK and US? I mean the recruiters find them so there must be a way.
I've had nearly 100% success rate (got a round of interviews) when I applied directly to the handful of companies I saw advertising directly on Indeed. And near-zero and really bad matches when going trough the second stupidest people in this world after real estate agents, the recruiters.
In Romania, nearly 100% of the jobs are direct adverts from the companies.
Why isn't so in the US / UK and wouldn't this be an opportunistic space to get in?

Isn't it a better approach to choose what company you want to work for, and go to that company's website of job postings?

Evidently. That's what I'm asking, in case you have trouble interpreting what I said above.

Apart from Google and a handful of others, there are some 10,000 interesting companies in the UK alone. And I don't even know their name, just like they never get to know mine.
How can I go to who's doing interesting stuff if I don't even know who's there in the first place?

Are you looking for quant finance jobs on Indeed? That's your first mistake.

Apart from my first job I never worked for somebody I didn't already know.
