I am a loooooooser
Once upon a time we still had Moore's law (not to speak of the internet thing) - and that was our equivalent of Klondike, lots of opportunities compared to today. Now in hindsight i feel a looser as I did not take the opportunity and didn't get my small cut of the fortune. How do you guys feel about that?
On the other hand the salary was way better than average ...

Now you're less of a loser.

I made a great living with just a BS. Hell I get paid as much as a lawyer does or a family doctor and I don't need a doctorate or a license.
I also nearly paid for my house with stock options. Got in to late to make a killing though.
Ever notice how we just talk about money? In the end is that all the tech revolution was about? I guess we'd be foolish to say it became more than the just money. But at least I got into it as a hobby. If anything I feel I have a bit more sole than those that came along later...the "me too's".
I'd hate to know what goes through the heads of these Millennials. I get the strong feeling most go into tech because mommy and daddy tell them there is money to be made and that's it.

Thanks Wanderer, money wasn't one of my priorities as a younger man, so the older me shouldn't bitch about not being rich as shit.

Totally! Story of my life now. To answer your past question, no stock options - I never worked any place where I qualified.
This industry is a mind fuck.
