Absolut vodka being watered down?
What a shame... I always put the bottle in the fridge, never tried the freezer.
As people commented it has to do with the proof.
In my younger years I used to make higher octane alcohol by "freezer distillation". Its crude, time consuming and only works so well.
I put all my liquor in the freezer. Makes them as smooth as mother's milk.
Using freezing to concentrate the alcohol removes mainly water so you also concentrate the heavier organics which usually results in a horrible flavour.
Works for me. Particularly with peaty scotch, you get less of the taste of dirt.
