I ran into the middle of the live stream of the press conference by Trump and Merkel.
I heard Trump saying
"I seem to be very popular with the party, I had tremendous numbers with the party... "
I decided to silence the stream, and wait for the summary later.
And your point is?...

During a state visit, Trump's domestic popularity is evidently a conversation piece.
Doesn't that strike you as peculiar?
Nothing shocks me anymore.

Photographers: Can we get a handshake?
Merkel (to Trump): Do you want to have a handshake?
Trump: *no response*
Merkel: *makes awkward face*
He's a germophobe to boot.

They briefly shook hands after the press Q&A.

With Donald Trump everything is always about Donald Trump regardless of the discussion.

He was responding to a question asked of him. I suppose he's a shithead for doing that?

> He was responding to a question asked of him. I suppose he's a shithead for doing that?
So it was fate that let me start listening at that precise moment.
I can accept that.
I have more trust in fate than in the redaction of news media :-)
And I have not qualified Trump as a shithead. I have reserved that term for Martin Schulz.
But the Germans found some other qualifications.
Schulden Schulz (schulden: debts)
Schwafel Schulz (schwafeln: to ramble, to raffle, to waffle)
Schummel Schulz (schummeln: to wangle, to cheat), "Martin, der Schummler"
What is the problem supposed to be with his behavior here? It seems more of the same crazy lunatics accusing him of imaginary crimes we see every day now.

He made a nicely judged reference to her phone being wire tapped.
March 18th, 2017 3:55am
He insulted the leader of an important allied country.

Merkel is a traitor to the whole of Europe and is presiding over the total destruction of Germany.
March 18th, 2017 9:28am
The sky is falling! The sky is falling!
Don't be so smug, you're country could easily be next.
March 18th, 2017 10:08am
OK, we will take inner city Philadelphia as our example of how to do successful integration in Europe.
What the fuck does that have to do with what Merkel is doing to Europe?
March 18th, 2017 10:52am
What is she doing?

Shall we see who can find the shittiest place in each other's country?
Merkel, with her decisions in the refugee crisis, made a choice between the age-old principle of acting in pure self-interest, and the religious and enlightened principle of helping the poor and having mercy.
She was democratically supported.
I think that her choice was stupid, but I can't call it treason.
She actually practised what most countries have formally signed for, with the universal declaration of human rights, and many related treaties.
Lotti, you're not a fan of human rights, are you?
March 18th, 2017 11:55am
> Lotti, you're not a fan of human rights, are you?
I have logical problems with them.
Let's say I am internally divided on them.
It is the classic heart against the head.
We should aim for a compromise between helping suffering nations at our borders and destroying our social order.

> We should aim for a compromise between helping suffering nations at our borders and destroying our social order.
Or maybe preventing the destruction of our social order in another way.
That social order is pretty solid to begin with, so there is time to steer the course away from total disaster?
Yeah I think I didn't express myself too clearly.
