I keep hearing about this Amazon thing. Maybe some day I will try it.

Is R worth learning?

Thinking about taking an online Coursera class in R.

I don't have a data science track at work.  Maybe learning R can help a web developer/DBA type to bring value to the company regardless?

Sure, you can join the 99.9999% of scientists who know how to use statistics software yet don't understand anything about statistics. You can use your new lack of knowledge coupled with powerful tools to produce lots of numbers, which you can suggest are scientific proof of whatever agenda or product you're promoting.

Cos that's what people do with R.

Maybe you can blog about how Hillary has a 99.8% chance of winning the election, like all the other data experts.
